On Friday, 5th March 2021, Fosse Co-op Camera Club held their Annual Inter Cities Competition via Zoom.
The Judge, Jim Hartje ARPS DPAGB APAGB EFIAP, said he found it extremely difficult to select the winners from the 68 images which were of a very high and close standard. (Four entries from four different club members were submitted by each of the seventeen clubs from the Midland Counties and East Anglia.)
Congratulations go to the winners: Duston Camera Club, scoring a total of 71 points with their panel of images: Cambridge by Steve Borman, Scrapper by Wayne Stant, Symmetry by Judy Longhorn and Take Him Down by Ketan Shah. Duston were closely follow by Leicester Forest Photographic Society with 70 points and Dunchurch Photographic Society with 69 points.
The overall best image, scoring full marks of 20 points was Red Squirrel by Pete Wrycraft of Coalville and District Photographic Society, which the Judge said he had spent a long time studying and could not fault it. Closely following the winning image in second place, also with 20 points was The Engine Arrangers by David Bray of Dunchurch Photographic Society.
For those of you that are not aware of the “Inter Cities” origins, in the days of dark room black and white printing, this was a competition between two clubs from each of Coventry, Birmingham and Leicester and the six clubs took it in turns each year to host the event. When the recession hit the car industry Birmingham and Coventry dropped out of the competition and were replaced by other photographic clubs.
We look forward to welcoming all the clubs back next year for this competition when we hope we will be back to our normal meeting room.
